India - One of the fastest growing economies. But
when it came to Indian Automobiles, the first indigenously designed
and developed car did not happen till the late 90's. December
1998 saw the launch of the first truly Indian
car, the Tata Indica. The Indica V2 was launched in
2001 and was an advanced variant of the Tata Indica. The Indica
V2 incorporated features few cars in the category could match. However,
the most
|
significant aspect of the Indica V2 was that it
was designed in India. This ensured that the car perfectly understood
Indian conditions and satisfied them. The Indica V2 was spacious
enough to accomodate large Indian families, and off course all the
luggage that came with them. The powerful engine of the Indica V2
ensured it took the burden of the extra weight. The powerful AC
added to an
|
already comfortble ride. The Indica V2 also had
a rugged built for miles of pot-hole ridden roads, and at times
no road at all, just paths. These features ensured that the Indica
V2 led the sales in it's segment. As a matter of fact a quarter
million Indicas were manufactured by October 2003. This is indeed
a great achievement for Tata
Motors.
